West End Retriever’s goal is to enhance your dog’s natural hunting and retriever abilities, while at the same time focusing on fundamentals, confidence, experience, consistency, and team building.  Your dog will get plenty of birds and marks with each gundog training program. This is the key to developing your dog into a quality retriever you will be proud to take to any duck blind, hunt test or field trial.

~Foundation Gundog Program.  This program will get your new hunting companion started on the right path towards becoming a Gun Dog.

• It builds on the beginner obedience training program.
• It incorporates socialization and crate training.
• Introduction to birds, water, gun shot, and puppy marks on land and water.

~Beginner Gundog Program.  This Gundog program will build upon the foundation skills while incorporating the following new skills.  This program is designed to produce a STARTED LEVEL or JUNIOR HUNTER or 1st year hunting dog.

• Force Fetch
• Collar Conditioning
• Steadiness at the line
• Whistle response

~Intermediate Gundog Program.  This Gundog program builds upon the Beginner Gundog program plus the following new skills. This level will produce a SEASONED LEVEL or SENIOR HUNTER.

• Casting with hand signals
• Blind retrieves on land and water
• Multiple marks on land and water
• Walk ups and diversions
• Honoring while another dog is working

~Advanced Gundog Program.  This Gundog program builds upon the Intermediate Gundog program plus the following new skills. This level will produce a FINISHED LEVEL or MASTER HUNTER.

• Complex multiple marks at greater distances on land and water
• Challenging blind retrieves
